A link to watch my final video, as the video file is to big to upload onto blogger.

Final Powerpoint

Evaluation On Final Product

I did have rather a few problems during the completion of this project, however I have been very lucky the final result did turn out good and received very good feedback.
I will be attempting this style again as I think it is a great for education purposes and makes learning the information fun.
I have had lots of fun editing all of the different types of animation together.
I would like more time to work on a project this big next time.
I am extremely happy with the finished result.
I have tried to get my work out to as many people as I could, uploaded my video onto YouTube, made a blog and handed out DVDs of my project to lots of people.
I received lots of very useful feedback from the handed out DVDs, I got everyone who watched one to full out a questionnaire and they all came back with great reviews  and great opinions on changes that could be made.
one of the best pieces of advice I got was to add rain into the sequence and a close up of the 3d flower.
I made the changes and when I handed out my DVDs for a second time got even better feedback then before, people really seemed to like the look of all the different animation placed together.

3D work Flower And Rain

My 3d flowers have probably taken the most time and effort as I found them to be time consuming out of all the animation techniques I have created for this project. I couldn’t find one single tutorial on a growing flower, I had to compromise and use a lot of my own knowledge of 3ds max and use lots of reference pictures of flowers to help me edit the appearance of the 3d flower, in addition to this I had a real flower next to me at the side of my computer the entire time so I could improve the textures while attempting to complete my 3d flower.

In conclusion I worked on many designs for the flower and am very happy with the final appearance of the 3d flower. The 3ds max rain I created was made by following a tutorial and then adjusting the rain accordingly. The rain had to suit the overall appearance for my completed animation.

Live Flower

I have more footage than this from the start, the files are way to big to upload to this site, so i have edited a little example:

 My live footage flowers

This was definitely the hardest part of my project, as it took over a month to film; I had a lot of problems while filming. Firstly I had to choose an ideal place to keep the flower pot, as it needed to be near the sun so that it would continue to get enough natural sunlight to help it grow. The location had to be easy to get around and accessible from all angles. This was necessary and vital if the plant was going to stay alive. I am not a natural gardener so this was quite a challenge. The plant still needed food and water to help it grow. I was able to keep watering it and filming the flower easily.

I planted the seeds in an electric propagator to help them start growing faster and germinate quickly. I used plenty of plant food, such as miracle grow and a root stimulant to strengthen the roots., I had to force photosymphasis on the plants to help them to grow faster than usual so I could achieve the footage I wanted in the amount of time we had left. The lights had to be left on at all times whilst filming as to give a continual effect on film and to help force photosymphasis.

I kept the camera filming continuously so that I would have some really nice footage of a flower growing in one full sequence, this worked rather well at the beginning and I had some really powerful footage, however as the flower continued to grow I had problems with the background of the plant. The plant started growing too high and too fast. It continued to grow until it became too big and way out of camera shot. This meant that if I had continued to film then it would have been two different styles of live footage.

In conclusion I did end up with some very good footage of the growing plant and also some really bad footage that couldn’t be used. I have learnt for the next time I attempt this technique, to do more tests and research into flowers. I will only film those types of flowers / plants that won’t grow too high for the pot. The live footage filmed for the sky works very well and I am happy I decided to include the sky footage.
